Non-EU license holders need an IDP or German translation if the license is not in German.

Core Requirements

  • Minimum age 18.
  • Original license + IDP/Translation.

Timing & Validity

  • Processing time: 2-3 business days
  • Recognition period: 6 months from entry
  • Driving side: right-hand traffic

Traveler Alerts

  • No speed limit on some Autobahn sections, but recommended 130km/h.
