How we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information. Written for humans, not lawyers.

1. Overview

At International Automobile Council, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use our services.

2. Who is responsible for your data

International Automobile Council is the controller of personal data collected through this website. For any privacy matter — questions, requests, or complaints — contact us at support@internationalautomobilecouncil.com.

3. What we collect

We collect only what we need to issue your IDP and operate the service. Specifically:

  • Identity data:your name, date of birth, photograph, and driver’s license information (license number, category, issuing country).
  • Contact data:email address, phone number, and your residential address as it appears on your driver’s license — it is printed on your permit and card, not used for shipping (nothing ships).
  • Payment data: processed securely by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Usage data: information about how you use the site, such as pages visited and device and browser type.
  • Customer service data: the messages you send us by email or through our contact form.

4. How we use your information

We may use the information we collect for various purposes, including to:

  • Process and fulfill your IDP application;
  • Communicate with you about your application;
  • Provide customer support;
  • Prevent fraud and keep the service secure;
  • Improve our website and services;
  • Send promotional emails (you may opt out at any time); and
  • Comply with legal obligations.

5. Who we share it with

We share the minimum data required, only with:

  • Service providers: companies that help us operate — payment processing, secure cloud hosting and database infrastructure, and transactional email delivery.
  • Authorities: when we are legally required to do so, for example by a court order in a jurisdiction where we operate.

We never sell your personal data, exchange it for advertising, or share it with credit bureaus.

6. Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption of data in transit, access controls on our systems, and row-level security on our database so that account data is only accessible to the account that owns it.

However, no internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. You may request earlier deletion — see Section 8.

  • The right to correct inaccuracies in your personal information;
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information;
  • The right to restrict or object to processing of your personal information; and

9. Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum — see our Cookie Policy for a complete list of the cookies and browser storage we use, what they do, and how to manage them.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
