- Major international rental brands have little to no presence in Chad; vehicles are typically arranged through hotels or local agencies in N'Djamena and usually come with a driver.
- Official UK and Canadian advice is not to drive after dark, due to crime, unlit roads and poor road conditions.
- Roads are often impassable during the July–October rainy season; travel in convoy and carry spare fuel — shortages are common even in major cities.
