A plain statement of what International Automobile Council is — and just as importantly, what we are not.

1. We are not a government agency

International Automobile Council is a private organization. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operating on behalf of any government, ministry of transport, motoring association, or automobile club. The American Automobile Association (AAA), the AIT/FIA Alliance, and the national motoring associations of the United Kingdom (RAC, AA), Australia, Canada (CAA), and elsewhere are unrelated entities.

Disclaimer: International Automobile Council is not affiliated with any government agency. You are purchasing a translation document which is not a replacement for a valid driving license.

2. What we sell

We sell a translation document — a multilingual translation of your domestic driver’s license prepared with reference to the 1949 Geneva and 1968 Vienna Conventions on Road Traffic, and used by travelers in 150+ countries. It is not, however, a replacement for your domestic driver’s license, and it is only usable alongside that license.

3. What we do not sell

  • A government-issued driver’s license.
  • A passport or government-issued ID.
  • Driving rights you did not already have under your domestic license.
  • Insurance, roadside assistance, or warranty cover.

4. Accuracy of country information

The country-specific information we publish (such as license requirements, speed limits, and alcohol limits) is compiled from public sources at the time of publication and reviewed periodically. Road codes change. Always verify with the relevant transport ministry or embassy before you travel for high-stakes situations.
