Hauptanforderungen
- Valid national driving licence carried at all times; minimum driving age is 18
- IDP recommended for non-EU/EEA licence holders and effectively required if your licence is not printed in Latin script (1968-convention IDP recognised)
- Reflective vest, warning triangle and first-aid kit must be carried in the vehicle
- Rental companies typically require drivers to be at least 21, often with young-driver surcharges

Reisewarnungen
- Rental desks accept EU and most Latin-script licences without an IDP, but non-Latin-script licences (e.g. Japanese, Chinese, Arabic) need one to be readable to staff and police
- No vignette — Croatia charges distance-based motorway tolls at toll gates, payable in euros by cash or card (an ENC transponder earns discounts)
- The Pelješac Bridge lets you drive the Split–Dubrovnik coast entirely within Croatia, avoiding the Bosnian border crossing at Neum
